Parent-Student Interview/Conferences for 2014-2015

The school board approved a change to the elementary school back to school schedule for the 2014-2015 school year. Replacing the open house from previous years, parents and students will meet one-on-one with their child’s classroom teacher prior to the first full day of school for students in kindergarten through 6th grade.

During the before the school conferences on September 2nd and 3rd, parents/guardians will have approximately 30 minutes to meet with their child’s classroom teacher. These interviews will be held on September 2nd between 12 noon to 8:00 P.M. and on September 3rd from 8:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Parents will be able to schedule their own conferences on a first come, first serve basis through an online conference scheduling web site. Parents will be notified when the site becomes open for scheduling.

During the conference the teacher will share important classroom and school information. The teacher will also administer short reading and/or math assessments to determine your child’s reading and math levels. Parents will remain in the room to complete necessary paper work during this time. An adult must accompany their child. Parents will also be able to take care of payments for lunch and other school expenses, vision and hearing screening, talk with food service and transportation, and learn how to use JMC parent online. Fall conferences will be held on October 9th and 13th, 2014 and winter conferences will held on February 5th, 2015.

Information regarding classroom placement and student interview days (Sept. 2 and 3) for 2014-2015 will be forthcoming at the beginning of August. The first full day of school for students in kindergarten through 6th grade will be Thursday, September 4th, 2015.
